I grew up in the small northwest Iowa town of Sheldon. I enjoyed playing various sports as well as being involved in a range of fine arts activities. I especially enjoyed playing in the SHS Marching Band, Jazz Band, and an assortment of Iowa Honor bands. I graduated from Sheldon High School and received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Luther College in Decorah, IA. A couple years later, I completed my accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
After graduation, I worked as a nurse at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for 9 years. In my time there, I cared for children in the Peds ICU and adults in various levels of acuity. I spent most of my time at Mayo in the adult Medical ICU. I became a nurse because I love to help others, and in my time at Mayo, I cared for thousands of patients.
As my career progressed, and I learned about chiropractic philosophy of helping the body to heal from above, down and inside out, I knew a career change was in my future. Chiropractic care had a profound effect on my health – being a bedside ICU nurse working 12 hour shifts for years certainly took it’s toll on my body.
I received my Doctor of Chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN. I also received my Advanced Proficiency Certification for the Torque Release Technique as well as Webster Certification through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). I enjoy learning more about serving the prenatal, pediatric, and family population. I am grateful to be a part of a profession that helps the body to heal using a natural approach.
In my spare time, I love spending time with my family – including my husband Chris and our 2 children Tyler and Nora. We also have a 15-year-old cat named Leo. I enjoy spending time outside either hiking or running, listening to music, attending various concerts, working on home projects, and caring for my houseplants.
