There is no shortage when it comes to chiropractic maneuvers practiced in today’s world, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to know all of them. Luckily there’s only around a handful which are favorites amongst chiropractors because of the success rate and popularity amongst clients. So below, we have listed the most common exercises you will most likely have performed and applied to you at your next visit to the chiropractors.

Flexion-distraction: This move is also known as decompression manipulation. The purpose of this is to stretch out your whole body using a specially designed chiropractor table. This move is often used to treat problems such as herniations scoliosis, particular joint pains, Lumbar disc injuries, and stiffness in the lower back.

Gonstead Technique: This technique is performed by the patient lying on their side, while the chiropractor works their lower back. The purpose of this is to fix misaligned portions of the spine to relieve pressure. This is common to have performed in a session, and it often one of the first exercises students learn to perform when in training.

Thompson Technique: Another typical move you’ll most likely find performed on you is the Thompson Technique, which requires the famous chiropractor table. This technique is where the chiropractor will apply thrust in the area of pain/ ache, which will drop your body by a quarter of an inch. The drop will cause a vibration in your body, which relieves pressure and pain.

Activator Technique: Treating anything from spinal pain to joint pains, the activator is one of the most commons techniques used as well as one of the most popular among practitioners. This exercise uses an impulse in the area, which is causing pain, which can create relaxation and decompressing of muscles and joints.

Diversified technique: The Diversified Technique maneuver is often related to adjustments around the body, which creates the ‘popping’ sounds. This is performed by manual adjustments which correct misaligned part of the spine. This technique has been used for over a hundred years. Throughout this time has evolved to be able to fix many problems as well as spinal pains.

Graston Technique: This practice engages with the soft tissues in your body by massaging an applying pressure to the skin. Performing this action allows for agitated areas to become less restricted. Some of the advantages of this technique are less overall treatment time, faster rehabilitation, a reduced need for anti-inflammatory drugs, and improving chronic conditions.

Ultrasound: Your chiropractor may decide to apply ultrasound to your spine and joints. Like heating, this can increase the healing process, improve blood flow, and reduce pains and aches.

These are just a few of the most common maneuvers that are performed in chiropractic sessions. Of course, it depends on the individual and what aches and pains are the body is currently experiencing.
